Waves, Chaos & Matter

n = 22

The physics of patterns. Standing waves draw Chladni’s nodal lines and set the tones a drum can play; two solitons pass through each other and come out unchanged, apart from a small shift in position. Chaos theory follows the strange attractor, the bifurcation cascade and islands of order in a chaotic sea, seen in a Poincaré section, and Bragg diffraction turns rows of atoms into bright spots.
