Tallywick, the Dark-Count Lamplighter Mug
Thermionic emission: J = A T² e−W/kT (Richardson–Dushman). It is why photomultipliers have dark counts and why they are cooled.
The joke: Dark counts are thermal electrons leaving the photocathode; cooling suppresses them exponentially. The slogan on the mug reads IN THE DARK, SOMETHING STILL CLICKS.
